Fourth Season of 'Osomatsu-san' Announced

Production company Avex Pictures announced a fourth season of the Osomatsu-san (Mr. Osomatsu) anime series on Thursday, revealing an announcement promo and a visual (pictured above). The new season is being produced by animation studio Pierrot Films.

Celebrating the fourth season announcement, a special radio program featuring the six lead cast titled Mutsugo Radio will stream live beginning at 9:00 p.m. JST (7:00 a.m. EST).

Based on Fujio Akatsuka's 1962 comedy shounen manga, Osomatsu-san commemorated the author's 80th anniversary with its first television anime in Fall 2015. A second season aired in 25 episodes beginning Fall 2017, followed by a side story anime movie opening in Japan in March 2019. The third and latest season began airing in Fall 2020 and ended with 25 episodes in Winter 2021.

Commemorating the sixth anniversary of the anime series, two anime movies screened in Japan in July 2022 and July 2023, subtitled Hipipo-Zoku to Kagayaku Kajitsu and Tamashii no Takoyaki Party to Densetsu no Otomarikai, respectively. The Matsuinu short television anime, portraying the Matsuno siblings as small, round dogs, aired in 12 episodes in Fall 2023.

VIZ Media acquired the digital streaming, home video, and merchandise rights for the first two anime seasons in North America. Crunchyroll simulcast the anime seasons with subtitles and is streaming the side story anime movie.
