'Yuru Yuri' Announces Mini Net Anime Series
At the pre-screening event of Yuru Yuri, on Saturday—the original video animation commemorating the manga's 10th anniversary—a mini anime series for the franchise was announced. The anime, titled Mini Yuri, will be a four-episode series with a runtime of 5 minutes per episode. The short anime will feature mini characters and debut online at a later time.
Namori began publishing Yuru Yuri in Comic Yuri Hime magazine in June 2008. Ichijinsha published the 16th in January 2018, with the 17th volume scheduled for an August 29 release. The manga entered indefinite hiatus last July.
The manga inspired two anime seasons by Doga Kobo in Summer 2011 and 2012. TYO Animations produced a sequel original video animation, two special episodes, and a third season in 2015.
A crowdfunding campaign was launched for the 10th anniversary original video episode last December, which reached nearly 88 million yen (approximately US$815,600) by the end of its run on February 15, exceeding the initial goal of 10 million yen (approximately US$90,000) more than eight times over. The anniversary episode produced by Lay-duce will be delivered on a Blu-ray disc to the campaign backers in July to late August.
Ichijinsha published an anniversary book titled Yuru Yuri X, containing illustrations and comments from 45 artists and a new anthology (pictured) on Friday, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the manga series.
