'Grand Blue' Third Season in Production
The 12th and final episode of Grand Blue Season 2 (Grand Blue Dreaming Season 2) ended with an announcement on Tuesday that a third season is in production. The official website also revealed an announcement visual (pictured).
Produced by Zero-G, the first season aired in 12 episodes in Summer 2018. The second season premiered on July 8. Amazon Prime Video streamed the first season, with Crunchyroll simulcasted the second season with subtitles in multiple languages.
The anime series adapts Kenji Inoue and Kimitake Yoshioka's seinen comedy manga, which began in good! Afternoon magazine in April 2014. Kodansha published the 24th volume on April 7, with the 25th volume planned for an October 7 release. Grand Blue has a cumulative 10 million copies of its volumes in print.
Kodansha USA licensed the manga in English in November 2017 and released the 22nd volume on June 24.
A live-action film produced by Warner Bros. Japan opened in Japan in August 2020, grossing over 452 million yen (approx. US$3.1 million).
