Studio 4°C Adapts 'All You Need is Kill' Light Novel as Anime Movie
Production company Warner Bros. Japan announced an anime adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka's All You Need is Kill light novel on Thursday. The company also opened an official website, revealing the main staff, teaser visual (pictured), and a teaser trailer.
Kenichirou Akimoto (Kaijuu no Kodomo CG director) is directing the anime at Studio 4°C. The movie will reconstruct the story from a different angle than the novel and the Hollywood live-action movie.
Shueisha published the original light novel under its Super Dash Bunko in December 2004, featuring illustrations by Yoshitoshi ABe (Texhnolyze). VIZ Media published the novel in English in July 2009.
Takeshi Obata (Death Note) drew a manga adaptation which was serialized on Young Jump magazine from January to May 2014. Shueisha published both volumes in June 2014.
The Hollywood live-action movie adaptation, Edge of Tomorrow, opened in theaters in May 2014, directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) and starring Tom Cruise.
Synopsis
After an unidentified plant from outer space invasion, Rita finds herself trapped in a time loop, forced to relive the same day over and over again. With each loop, she learns. She fights. Her memories and experiences sharpen her skills, turning her into a formidable warrior. Yet, the endless cycle of death and solitude begins to wear her down. Then, she meets Keiji. "I've been repeating this day too," he says. Two lost souls, trapped in an endless war. Could their meeting change fate? (Source: Warner Bros. Japan)
