An official website for a television anime adaptation of Tokyo Revengers opened on Friday, revealing a teaser visual drawn by the manga creator Ken Wakui (pictured) and a special promotional video. The anime is set to premiere in 2021.

Synopsis
Takemichi Hanagaki's life is at an all-time low. Just when he thought it couldn't get worse, he finds out that Hinata Tachibana, his ex-girlfriend, was murdered by the Tokyo Manji Gang: a group of vicious criminals that has been disturbing society's peace for quite some time.

Wondering where it all went wrong, Takemichi suddenly finds himself traveling through time, ending up 12 years in the past—when he was still in a relationship with Hinata. Realizing he has a chance to save her, Takemichi resolves to infiltrate the Tokyo Manji Gang and climb the ranks in order to rewrite the future and save Hinata from her tragic fate. Wakui's action sci-fi manga began its serialization in Weekly Shounen Magazine in March 2017. The 18th volume shipped on May 15. Tokyo Revengers has a cumulative 3.7 million copies of its volumes in print.

Kodansha Comics began publishing the manga in North America digitally in October 2018 and shipped the 15th volume last month.

The manga spawned a live-action adaptation, which will screen in Japanese theaters on October 9. Starred by DISH//'s main vocalist Takumi Kitamura, the film will be directed by Tsutomu Hanabusa (Kakegurui live-action).

Tokyo Revengers won the 44th Kodansha Manga Awards under the Shounen category.
