Manga 'Yani Neko' Gets TV Anime in Summer 2026
An official website opened for a television anime adaptation of Nyannyan Factory's Yani Neko (Chainsmoker Cat) manga on Monday, revealing the main staff, cast, a teaser visual (pictured), and teaser promotional video. The anime is scheduled to premiere on Tokyo MX and other stations in July 2026.
Voice actress Yuuko Natsuyoshi (Chou Kaguya-hime!, Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha) is starring as Yani Neko.

Nyannyan Factory originally posted the comedy manga on X (formerly Twitter) in November 2022. Weekly Young Magazine began serializing the manga in February 2023. Kodansha published the tenth volume in November 2025, with the 11th volume going on sale on February 6.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English in February 2025 and released the first volume on December 9. The second volume is set to be released on March 17.
Yani Neko ranked 12th in the print category at the 2023 Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Awards and ranked 18th in the Male Readers category in the 2024 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! Rankings.
Synopsis
Yani is a catgirl with a seriously bad smoking habit. She smokes so much that her apartment smells like ash and is littered with cigarette butts—and plenty of other trash! Every time she tries to quit, she becomes weak to the cravings and gives in almost instantly. Will she ever get her life together, or is she doomed to live as a chainsmoking slob forever?
