Mangaka Kawasaki Noboru Refuses Tokyo Anime Award
According to the twitter of Nogami Takeshi, mangaka Kawasaki Noboru refused Tokyo Anime Award, which was planned to be given at Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) 2011. Tokyo Government had offered him the prize for the distinguished service. Kawasaki consulted the Japan Cartoonists Association and decided to turn it down considering the issue of Anime & Manga Regulation Ordinance. Tokyo proposed to give the prize in other occasion than TAF but Kawasaki declined it as well. Nogami said Tokyo officials got flurried by his unexpected refusal.
Kawasaki Noboru is 69 years old and the art author of Japanese classic manga "Kyojin no Hoshi" (Wikipedia). The manga and its anime adaptations have got fanatic popularity in 1960's and 70's in Japan.
