The first day of the Dengeki Bunko Winter Festival 2021 event announced a television anime adaptation of Takuma Sakai's Buta no Liver wa Kanetsu Shiro (Heat the Pig Liver: The Story of a Man Turned Into a Pig) light novel on Saturday.

Synopsis
An unappealing otaku awakens in the body of a pig after he passes out while eating raw pig liver. The pig finds himself in the company of Jess, an innocent girl who can read people's minds, and she accepts him despite his boorish thoughts... although she does plan to eat him. When Jess is in danger of succumbing to a dark destiny, can Pig save her using only his quick wits, wisdom, and refined sense of smell? (Source: MU, edited)

Buta no Liver wa Kanetsu Shiro, also known by its short title ButaLiver, won the Gold Award in the 26th Dengeki Novel Awards in 2019. Sakai began penning the comedy fantasy light novel on the Kakuyomu website last February.

Dengeki Bunko began printing the series featuring illustrations by Asagi Toosaka (Girly Air Force, Seiken Gakuin no Makentsukai) last March and released the fifth volume on October 8 (pictured right). ButaLiver has a cumulative 100,000 copies of its volumes in circulation.

Monthly Dengeki Maoh began serializing a manga adaptation by Minami last August. Kadokawa released the second volume on September 27.
