'Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu' Reveals Additional Pair of Cast, Opening Theme, Second Promo
The official website for the television anime adaptation of Mokumokuren's Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu (The Summer Hikaru Died) manga revealed a pair of additional cast, opening theme, and a second promotional video on Monday. The anime is scheduled to premiere on July 6 at 12:55 a.m. on NTV and will be released worldwide on Netflix.
Voice actors Yoshiki Nakajima (Hinamatsuri) and Shion Wakayama (Dandadan) are joining the cast as Yuuta Maki and Yuuki Tadokoro, respectively.
Singer-songwriter Vaundy (Sakamoto Days, Ousama Ranking) is performing the opening theme "Saikai, " which is previewed in the promotional video below.
Ryouhei Takeshita (Yoru no Kurage wa Oyogenai) is directing and handling the series composition at CygamesPictures. Yuuichi Takahashi (Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song) is designing the characters and Tarou Umebayashi (Yuri!!! on Ice) is composing the music.
Mokumokuren originally posted the manga on their X (formerly Twitter) account before beginning serialization on the Young Ace UP website in August 2021. Kadokawa published the sixth volume on December 4 and will release the seventh volume on July 4.
Mio Nukaga began penning a light novel adaptation under the Kadokawa Shoten label in December 2023.
Yen Press licensed the manga in English in September 2022 and released the fifth volume on March 18, with the sixth volume scheduled to go on sale on October 28. The company also licensed the light novel adaptation in English in October 2024.
