Manga 'Cutie Honey' Receives New Anime Adaptation [Update 12/29]
An official website has opened for a new anime adaptation of manga author Go Nagai's Cutie Honey manga on Friday. Titled Cutie Honey Universe, the anime is the third project to celebrate the 50th's anniversary of Nagai's works, following the Mazinger Z: Infinity film and Devilman: Crybaby anime series. The new anime will debut in 2018.
Staff
Director: Akitoshi Yokoyama (Photokano)
Series Compostion: Natsuko Takahashi (Nurarihyon no Mago)

Commemorating the anime adaptation, a special hug pillow will be sold at the Exit Tunes booth at Comiket 93 from December 29 to 31.
The original Cutie Honey manga was serialized in Weekly Shounen Champion between October 1973 and April 1974. Set 30 years after the first series, Nagai drew a new manga in 1992, followed by the Cutie Honey: Tennyo Densetsu (Cutie Honey: the Legend of an Angel) sequel in 2001. The series has inspired two TV anime adaptations, two OVA series, an anime film in 1997, and two live-action adaptations: a 2004 film and a 2007 TV series.
Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed the original manga and the Cutie Honey a Go Go! manga in English, and plans to publish them in omnibus format next year. Discotek Media licensed the first TV anime for North American distribution and released it in DVD in November 2013.
