Manga 'Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu' Ends with 14th Volume
Norio Sakurai's Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu (The Dangers in My Heart) manga will end with its 14th volume, as revealed in the afterword of the 13th volume released on Thursday.
Produced by Shin-Ei Animation, the first anime season aired in 12 episodes in Spring 2023, followed by the 13-episode second season in Winter 2024, adapting the first eight volumes of the manga. A compilation film with additional footage was later announced and is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on February 13. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime series in North America and streamed both seasons on HIDIVE with subtitles and an English dub.
Weekly Shounen Champion originally began serializing the manga—also known by its short name Bokuyaba—in March 2018 before it moved to Champion Cross the following month, and later to Manga Cross in July that year. Akita Shoten published the 13th volume on Thursday. Bokuyaba has a cumulative over 7 million copies of its volumes in print.
A spin-off manga titled Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu: Love Comedy ga Hajimaranai, written and illustrated by Haika Nanasaka and supervised by Sakurai, began serialization in July 2025. Akita Shoten published the first volume on Thursday.
Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English in December 2020 and released the 11th volume in August 2025. The 12th volume will go on sale on February 24.
Synopsis
Kyoutaro Ichikawa may look like your average middle school student, but in his heart, he dreams of murder. Thus, it is no surprise that the one he wants to kill the most is never far off from his mind: the class idol, Anna Yamada.
Reading alone in his beloved school library, he inadvertently begins to rendezvous with Yamada, who comes to secretly gorge on her beloved candies and sweets. Through their interactions, Ichikawa discovers just how much of a ditz Yamada is, and cannot help but support her from the sidelines. Meanwhile, Yamada herself cannot help but tease Ichikawa relentlessly due to his flustered reactions.
With an array of heartwarming daily interactions, the distant bond between the two grows into something more than just library acquaintances. Perhaps, in time, Ichikawa will come to realize that his murderous desires have turned into something else entirely. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
