The eleventh and final episode of the Kimetsu no Yaiba: Yuukaku-hen (Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc) television anime announced on Sunday that a television anime adaptation of the Katanakaji no Sato-hen (Swordsmith Village Arc) is in production. The official website also revealed a teaser visual (pictured) and an announcement video.

Haruo Sotozaki (Tales of Zestiria the Cross) is returning to helm the new anime at animation studio ufotable. Akira Matsushima (Maria-sama ga Miteru) is also returning as the character designer. The lead cast members are reprising their roles.

The first anime season aired in 26 episodes in Spring 2019. The Yuukaku-hen (Entertainment District Arc) aired in 11 episodes and began airing on December 5. Aniplex of America licensed both anime series and simulcast them on Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hulu. Adult Swim's Toonami programming block premiered the first season with an English dub in October 2020.

The Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Ressha-hen (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Mugen Train) anime film opened in Japan on October 20, 2020. The movie also received a television edit with new scenes which aired from October 10 to November 28 last year.

Koyoharu Gotouge received an honorable mention at the 70th Jump Treasure Newcomer Manga Awards for their Kagarigari one-shot in 2013, which became the prototype for Kimetsu no Yaiba. The latter began serializing in Weekly Shounen Jump in February 2016 and ended its four-year run on May 18, 2020. Shueisha shipped the 23rd and final volume on December 4, 2020.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in July 2017 and simulpublished it with the Japanese release in their new Shounen Jump platform. The 23rd and final volume shipped on August 3 last year. Shueisha's Manga Plus service also simulpublished the manga in English beginning January 2019.
