'Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei Movie: Yotsuba Keishou-hen' Reveals New Cast, Teaser Trailer for 2026 Premiere
The Aniplex Online Fest 2025 event revealed new cast and a teaser trailer for Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei Movie: Yotsuba Keishou-hen (The Irregular at Magic High School The Movie: Yotsuba Succession Arc) on Saturday. The anime movie adapting Tsutomu Satou's action sci-fi light novel is scheduled to premiere in 2026.
Voice actors Daisuke Ono (Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon) and Ai Kayano (Vanitas no Karte) are joining the cast as Katsushige Shibata and Yuuka Tsukuba, respectively.
Jimmy Stone (Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei 3rd Season) is returning to direct the movie at 8bit. Original illustrator Kana Ishida (Wakaba*Girl) is also reprising as the character designer. Taku Iwasaki (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann) is composing the music. Aniplex is distributing the movie.
The first anime season produced by Madhouse aired in 26 episodes from Spring 2014 to Summer 2014. 8bit produced the second and third season in Fall 2020 and Spring 2024, each airing in 13 episodes.
The Hoshi wo Yobu Shoujo (The Girl Who Summons The Star) anime movie opened in Japan in June 2017. The Tsuioku-hen (Reminiscence Arc) prequel special premiered in December 2021.
Satou penned the novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website from October 2008 to March 2011. Kadokawa published the light novel under its Dengeki Bunko label with illustrations by Ishida in 32 volumes from July 2011 to September 2020. Satou launched the Zoku Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: Magian Company sequel light novel in October 2020. Kadokawa released the tenth volume on June 10.
Yen Press licensed the light novel for English release in March 2015 and published the 25th volume on July 15, with the 26th volume scheduled to be released on January 10 next year.
