'Saki: Zenkoku-hen' to Air in January 2014
Square Enix's "Young Gangan" magazine is announcing in its 21st issue, which will hit newsstands on October 18th, that the anime series "Saki: Zenkoku-hen" will begin airing on television in January 2014. The same magazine had previously announced that the series would begin in the Spring season instead of Winter.
"Saki: Zenkoku-hen" is the sequel to the 2009 series "Saki", which is based on the manga of the same name by Ritz Kobayashi, and will tell the story of Kiyosumi High School in the Inter High School Mahjong Championships. Its side story spin-off "Saki: Achiga-hen" aired in 2012.
