Manga 'Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu' Gets Special Chapters
The official website for the Be-Love magazine has announced that Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu will get two special chapters. The two chapters will be released via the February and March 2019 issues of Be-Love magazines, to be released on December 28 and February 1, respectively, and will be about Shinnosuke, Konatsu's son, trying to figure out Rakugo through Shinigami, Yakumo's popular story.
Haruko Kumota serialized the series via Itan magazine between March 2013 and June 2016, compiling 10 volumes total. The manga won the excellence category for Japan's 17th Media Arts Festival Awards in 2013, the general award category at the 38th Kodansha Manga Awards in 2014, 7th place of female section of Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2017, and the new work section of 21st Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2017.
Studio Deen animated the manga into two OVAs in March and August 2015, which were bundled with the seventh and eighth manga volumes, respectively, and two TV seasons in Winter 2016 and Winter 2017, consisting total of 25 episodes. The live-action drama adaptation has been airing via NHK G since October 12 and will be ending on December 14.
Kodansha USA licensed the manga for release in North America since May 2017 under the title Descending Stories: Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju, with its tenth and final volume to be released on January 1, 2019.
