New 'Nintama Rantarou' Anime Movie Announced for December 2024

The Nintama 30th Commemoration! event announced a new anime movie for the franchise on Thursday, subtitled Dokutake Ninja Tai Saikyou no Gunshi. Production company Shochiku simultaneously opened an official website, revealing an announcement promo and a teaser visual (pictured). The movie will screen in theaters in Japan in December 2024.

Dokutake Ninja Tai Saikyou no Gunshi adapts Kazuhisa Sakaguchi's 2013 novel of the same name. Masaya Fujimori is returning to direct the movie at Ajia-do, following the 2011 movie. Sakaguchi is also returning to pen the script from the ongoing television anime.

Voice actors Minami Takayama, Mayumi Tanaka, Teiyuu Ichiryuusai, and Toshihiko Seki are reprising as Rantarou, Kirimaru, Shinbei, and Hansuke Doi, respectively.

The original Rakudai Ninja Rantarou manga by Soubee Amako ran in Asahi Shougakusei Shinbun from January 1986 to December 2018. The original television anime debuted on NHK-E in April 1993. The franchise has inspired a number of movies and special episodes since.
