Entertainment news outlet Variety announced on Wednesday that Boichi's Origin manga is receiving a Western live-action movie. Kodansha and Majestic Limited are co-producing the movie.

Majestic Limited is a new production company founded by director Josh Boone (The New Mutants, The Fault in Our Stars), producer Danny Chan (Barbarian, Freelance), and Darius Shahmir (Midnight Special, The Big Five).

Boichi serialized the action sci-fi manga in Weekly Young Magazine from September 2016 to February 2019. Kodansha shipped the tenth and final volume in June 2019. Kodansha USA licensed the manga in English in November 2022. The first volume was released on November 21, and the second volume is scheduled to go on sale on January 16.

Origin won the Grand Prize at the 22nd Japan Media Arts Festival in 2019.

Synopsis
Tokyo, 2048. Japan is now connected to the entire northern hemisphere by the Eurasian Railroad, and all manner of crime and vice pour into the megalopolis at its eastern terminus. Little do the people know that inhuman beings live among us, however—robots with high-level AI, who will kill to survive. Only one "man" can stop them—their prototype: ORIGIN. (Source: Kodansha USA)
