Publishing company North Stars Pictures opened an official website for a television anime adaptation of Kei Ookubo's historical manga Arte on Friday. The main cast members and a teaser visual (pictured) have also been revealed.

Synopsis
16th century Firenze, Italy. One girl, one ARTistic ambition!

The birthplace of the renaissance era, where art is thriving. In one small corner of this vast city, one sheltered girl's journey begins. She dreams of becoming an artist, an impossible career for a girl born into a noble family. In those days, art was an exclusively male profession, with woman facing strong discrimination. Ookubo began serializing the manga in Monthy Comic Zenon in October 2013. Tokuma Shoten will publish the 11th volume on Saturday. Arte has a cumulative 750,000 copies of its compied volumes in circulation.

The manga was briefly published in English on the Silent Manga Audition website between August 2015 and December 2016. Media Do International licensed the series for digital release last October and published the third volume on Tuesday.

Arte ranked among the top 20 manga in the 2nd Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho in 2016—a joint award by Kadokawa's Da Vinci literature magazine and streaming platform Niconico.
