Manga 'Giant Ojousama' Gets TV Anime Adaptation
Publishing company Shogakukan announced a television anime adaptation of Q Nikumura's Giant Ojousama manga on Monday.
Tatsunoko Production, the animation studio behind Gatchaman Crowds and Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta, is producing the anime.
Nikumura originally posted the manga on Shounen Jump+ web magazine's Jump Rookie! section as an entry for the monthly award in December 2020. Following a readers vote, it won the Bronze Rookie Award for December. A total of four chapters were released by February 2021.
Sunday Webry began serializing the action comedy manga in July 2021. Shogakukan published the ninth volume in April 2024, with the tenth volume going on sale on March 12.
Synopsis
Oriko Fujidou, the daughter of the powerful Fujidou conglomerate—the world's leading force in vending machine development and distribution—was gifted an entire city by her father at the age of four. Over the past ten years, she has devoted herself to its growth and prosperity.
However, the city's peaceful days come to an abrupt end when an enormous, unidentified invader attacks. In a desperate attempt to fight back, her loyal butler, Dr. Sebastian gives Oriko a newly developed energy drink. The moment she drinks it, her body grows to a towering size, surpassing even skyscrapers. Though struggling at first, she ultimately manages to repel the invader.
But the attacks don't stop. Each time a new threat emerges, Oriko transforms into a giant once more, standing to protect the city she has nurtured with her own hands.
