Initially slated for an April 2021 premiere, the official website for the television anime adaptation of CLAMP's Tokyo Babylon manga announced on Thursday that the anime's broadcast is postponed until further notice.

The staff issued an apology earlier this month due to referencing costume designs from other creators without permission for two characters in the series. The team has removed the character designs from the anime's official website, promising to take extra measures to avoid further issues of plagiarism in the future.

The anime adapting CLAMP's shoujo fantasy manga was originally announced in October. The characters in question were revealed on November 19, with the staff receiving warnings of potential plagiarism the following day regarding Hokuto and Subaru Sumeragi's costume designs. It's believed that the Emperor Hokuto "Black jacket and pink dress" costume references a picture taken by K-pop Idol Yeri from the band Red Velvet, with the Emperor style "Onmyoji" costume referencing a Volks moon cloth doll.

Susumu Kudou (Magic Kaito 1412), Shingo Suzuki (K) are helming the anime at GoHands. Jun Kumagai (Hamatora The Animation) is handling the series composition, with Makoto Furuta (Seitokai Yakuindomo) designing the characters. Noriyuki Asakura (Sidonia no Kishi) is composing the music at King Records.
