The Jump Super Stage for Dr. Stone announced on Sunday that the anime series sequel will premiere as a third season in 2023. The new season will continue the story with the Daikoukai Jidai-hen (Age of Exploration) arc.

The stage also announced a television special titled Dr. Stone: Ryuusui, scheduled to air in Summer 2022. Voice actor Ryouta Suzuki (Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai, Tsurune: Kazemai Koukou Kyuudoubu) will play the character Ryuusui Nanami. The original episode will serve as a bridge between the second and third season.

The anime series adapts Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi's post-apocalyptic adventure sci-fi manga, which launched in Weekly Shounen Jump in March 2017. Shueisha published the 23rd volume on November 9, with the 24th volume planned for a January 4 release. Dr. Stone has a cumulative 10 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

TMS Entertainment produced the 24-episode first anime season in Summer 2019. Dr. Stone: Stone Wars, the second season, aired in 11 episodes in Winter 2021. Crunchyroll simulcast the seasons with subtitles, while Funimation streamed an English dub.

VIZ Media simulpublishes the manga with the Japanese release through its Shounen Jump platform. The 19th volume shipped on November 2, with the 20th volume planned for release on February 1, 2022.
