Synopsis
Post-war Fukui girl seeks lost jazz bassist, carrying sister's bass to Tokyo, singing for US troops to uncover past.
During the turmoil of World War II in Fukui, young Suwa Oto witnesses her jazz-loving older sister Ineko dancing to the music of bassist Odajima Tatsuji during an air raid. The war leaves lasting scars on their family, and when the sisters are separated from Odajima, Oto makes a fateful decision. Years later, carrying her sister's bass on her back, Oto journeys to Tokyo as a student, determined to find what was lost to the ravages of war. Her beautiful singing voice opens unexpected doors, leading her to perform for American military personnel and bringing her closer to uncovering the mysteries of the past.
