Synopsis
Abused servant Miltia marries cursed Duke; through cooking, they heal each other's wounds and find unexpected love.
Miltia has spent her life as a servant in her own home, treated cruelly by her stepmother and stepsister while struggling to survive on scraps. Her only solace comes from her resourcefulness in the kitchen, where she can transform even the most humble ingredients into something nourishing. When her engagement to a local noble is publicly broken off by her stepsister and fiancé, Miltia's life takes an unexpected turn. She finds herself betrothed instead to the mysterious Duke of Lönnrot, a reclusive nobleman shrouded in dark rumors and whispered to bear a terrible curse. Moving to the duke's isolated estate, Miltia discovers a world vastly different from her previous life of hardship. Though her new husband initially keeps his distance, his cold demeanor slowly begins to thaw as Miltia's gentle spirit and exceptional cooking touch something deep within him. Through patience, kindness, and the universal language of food, two wounded souls begin to find healing in each other's presence. This is the story of Miltia's journey from a life of oppression to one of unexpected possibilities, where the simple act of sharing a meal becomes the first step toward a future neither she nor the duke could have imagined.
Miltia was treated as a servant and oppressed by her stepmother and her stepsister because there was no blood relation between her and them. She was having trouble getting enough food to survive everyday. Somehow, she was able to get by through cooking whatever thing she could find herself. In the midst of all this, her stepsister, who was doted on by both her stepfather and her stepmother, along with her fiancé, who was only interested in a woman's youth and physical appearance, cruelly broke off her engagement in public and forced her to marry the notorious "Cursed Duke," the Duke of Lönnrot. Because of the curse, the duke had a repulsive, monstrous appearance. He was ostracized by a lot of people and grew distrustful of people... At first, he was hard on Miltia, but to her, the duke's monstrous appearance actually resembled an octopus, an ingredient she had grown used to seeing, so she didn't find the duke's appearance to be repulsive. Furthermore, she was actually happier living in the ducal house compared to in her previous county house since her daily necessities were provided. As the result of her faithfully serving the Cursed Duke along with Miltia's unexpected behavior, she gradually melted his cold heart. She was also able to grab ahold of the duke's stomach through her cooking. The duke, whose curse was lifted by the cooking of the woman he loved, was actually a very beautiful young man. As soon as her stepsister found out, she completely changed her demeanor and insisted, "I want to swap our fiancés!!" But of course, the duke wouldn't tolerate such selfishness. Eventually, the people who had abused Miltia reaped what they sowed and fell to their demise. This is the story of Miltia—a young girl who was abused but survived through eating whatever things she could get—eventually receiving her happiness and being doted on by the cursed duke.
