Synopsis
In a world where alchemy is both science and art, Edward and Alphonse Elric are prodigious brothers who learned the craft from their absent father’s books. When tragedy strikes their family, they make a desperate attempt to use forbidden human transmutation—an act strictly outlawed by the laws of nature and state alike. The ritual backfires catastrophically: Edward loses his left leg, and Alphonse’s body is taken entirely, leaving his soul bound to a suit of armor by Edward’s sacrifice of his right arm. Haunted by their failure and determined to make things right, the brothers become state-certified alchemists and set out across the country in search of the legendary Philosopher’s Stone, a relic said to amplify alchemical power beyond normal limits. Their journey pits them against rogue alchemists, military conspiracies, and the moral cost of wielding power—while the true nature of alchemy itself begins to reveal deeper mysteries than either brother ever expected.
