Mountain boy Sanpei enters magical world through swimming practice, befriending Kappa Gartaro on transformative adventure.
Sanpei is a carefree 7-year-old boy who lives with his grandfather in the mountains. Known for his love of food and his unusual appearance that earns him teasing from classmates, Sanpei enjoys a simple life in his rural village. When his school announces a swimming competition with an exciting prize - a trip to Tokyo - Sanpei becomes determined to participate. Though he isn't a strong swimmer, he sets out to practice in hopes of achieving his goal. During one of his secret practice sessions at a nearby lake, Sanpei experiences a mysterious incident that leads him to an extraordinary world beyond his imagination. There, he encounters Gartaro, a young Kappa who becomes his friend, and begins an unexpected adventure that will change his understanding of his family and the world around him.
