The Severing Crime Edge offers eye-catching magical visuals and a catchy, grim-toned soundtrack that occasionally elevate its atmosphere. Yet the plot feels forced and repetitive, the hair-obsessed romance is hard to buy, and the weekly serial-killer antagonists lack depth or memorable backstories. Overall it’s a middling experience—barely tolerable entertainment that leans more mediocre than thrilling. The standout is the late-episode slow melody that underscores how far Kiri and Iwai’s bond has actually grown.
