Synopsis

Delinquent Shingo rebels against brutal coach, forms underdog soccer team, transforming casual players into formidable force through intense high school battles.

At Shinsei High School, soccer isn't just a game—it's practically a battlefield. When the new team coach Teppei Matsuki arrives with his brutal training methods, headstrong delinquent Shingo Tamai and his friend Ohira refuse to join his squad. Instead, they form their own team, playing purely for the love of the sport while struggling to compete against Matsuki's well-drilled unit. As Shingo and his ragtag group of players develop their skills through matches against various opponents, they begin to transform from casual players into a formidable force. The series follows their journey as they navigate intense rivalries, personal challenges, and the harsh realities of competitive high school soccer. Along the way, players confront their pasts, forge new bonds, and discover what it truly means to play as a team. This pioneering soccer drama, based on the manga by Ikki Kajiwara and Kosei Sonoda, established the template for Japanese soccer stories that would later influence series like Captain Tsubasa. Blending intense sports action with emotional character drama, it explores themes of friendship, rivalry, and the price of victory in the cutthroat world of high school athletics.
