Synopsis
In a post-catastrophe utopia, mandatory happiness and health implants spark rebellion as inspector Tuan confronts humanity's engineered perfection.
In a future where humanity has rebuilt itself after a devastating global catastrophe, society has been transformed by the World Health Organization's complete reimagining of human life. Through advanced medical technology, nanomachines, and augmented reality, people now live under a system that guarantees health and happiness—but at the cost of personal autonomy. In this carefully controlled world, high school student Miach Mihie finds herself increasingly suffocated by what she sees as the dehumanizing effects of a society that treats people as resources to be optimized. As her 18th birthday approaches—the age when citizens receive mandatory health monitoring implants—she begins to question the price of this engineered utopia. Years later, Tuan Kirie, once Miach's close friend, now works as an inspector for Helix, an organization tasked with monitoring global conflicts on behalf of the WHO. When Tuan is reassigned to Japan under circumstances she'd rather forget, she finds herself confronting the very society she once fled. Upon her return, she faces a disturbing phenomenon that challenges everything she thought she knew about the system designed to protect humanity. Now tasked with investigating a mysterious crisis, Tuan must navigate the complex web of a society where health and happiness are mandatory, and where the greatest threat might come from those who dare to question whether humanity has lost something essential in its pursuit of perfection.
