The film offers a colorful and vibrant aesthetic, and the character of Youko stands out as the only compelling voice of reason. However, the story suffers from a flat, uninteresting lead couple whose romance is built on unhealthy dependency rather than genuine chemistry. Ultimately, this is a disappointing experience that fails to deliver a satisfying character arc or the signature magic expected from a Masaaki Yuasa project. The most significant aspect of the film is the brief, refreshing presence of Youko.
