The opening and ending themes are the only highlights, offering catchy music and decent animation amid otherwise lackluster production. The story collapses under its own forced complexity, the animation is painfully stiff and awkward, and the cast is reduced to interchangeable XUs and ZHANGs with no depth. Overall a disappointing 4/10 experience. If you skip the show, just watch the OP and ED separately—you’ll have seen all that Hitori no Shita has to offer.
