Baby Steps stands out with its non-cliché story full of engaging cliffhangers and realistic growth, magnificent character portrayals especially Maruo's relationships and personal development, solid art once past the initial style, and fitting soundtrack that intensifies matches. The art style and title initially push viewers away, pacing starts slow, and the soundtrack isn't sensational, but these fade quickly. I highly recommend it to everyone for its fresh sports anime approach. What makes it shine is Maruo's note-taking strategy turning his studying skills into infinite tennis potential.
