Superb animation and killer opening/ending songs can’t save Durarara!! from its glacial pacing, bloated unsubtle dialogue, and paper-thin character growth. The series mistakes endless exposition for depth, lets most villains skate free while punishing the one character worth caring about (Kida), and reduces its central friendship to hollow posturing, leaving the whole production feeling naive and emotionally empty.
