The Place Promised in Our Early Days
雲のむこう、約束の場所
Synopsis
Two boys and their friend build an aircraft to reach a mysterious tower amid Cold War Japan's division.
In an alternate Japan divided by political tensions, childhood friends Hiroki Fujisawa and Takuya Shirakawa share two great passions: their brilliant classmate Sayuri Sawatari, and the mysterious Ezo Tower—a colossal structure that pierces the sky across the Tsugaru Strait. Drawn by an unshakable curiosity, the boys begin secretly building an aircraft from salvaged parts, dreaming of the day they might soar to the tower's unreachable summit. When Sayuri discovers their project, the three form a pact to fly together to the top of the enigmatic tower that has captivated their imaginations. But as tensions rise between the American-controlled South and Soviet-occupied North, the friends find their innocent dream becoming entangled with forces far beyond their understanding.
